I've noticed an interesting problem among indie founders and creators.
A lot of people build small but valuable audiences:
- newsletters about startups or AI
- niche SaaS blogs
- developer communities
- Twitter/X audiences around specific tech topics
These audiences can become monetizable through sponsorships.
But there's a practical problem that almost nobody talks about:
How do you actually price them?
For example:
- a dev newsletter with ~3k subscribers
- a niche SaaS blog with ~20k monthly readers
- a founder community with a few thousand members
How do you translate that into a sponsorship price?
Do you charge CPM? Flat placements? Performance deals?
Most founders I know end up guessing.
They either massively underprice or avoid sponsorships completely because they don't know what a fair price looks like.
The core issue seems to be the lack of simple ways to translate audience size and engagement into an estimated sponsorship value.
Curious how other founders here approach this.
If you run a newsletter, blog or niche tech audience - how do you price sponsorships?
