I feel his aides are trying to distract him with nonsense like this to stop him from saying something so stupid it will sink the Republicans even further in the polls.
Trump is currently in the phase where he is desperately trying to build a legacy. Hence all the trivial bullshit with monuments, renaming stuff, and what have you. He's terrified that once he's gone, he'll be gone and forgotten. Even said it himself - that if he doesn't do it now, nobody else will when he's gone.
Expect more of this. Wouldn't put it past him if he in Nov 2028 decides to rename a state after himself.
The man is in his 80s. He doesn't look too healthy. The mind rots. They spent a lot of time pointing at Biden about this, but tbh they both belong in a care home.
I still think they should have duked it out behind the bleachers or whatever it was those geezer were rambling about one election cycle. I'd have bought the PPV even.
Huh, they updated https://america.gov at least. Last time he was ranting about this, that site had not yet been updated, which was comically stupid. Now demanding people use the wrong term is comically stupid on its own.
I could not care less about a single thing that the current admin thinks or feels. The quality of those opinions are the same for the local crackheads in my community. There is not a single topic, idea or concept that Donald Trump has the capacity to be an authority of.
consider that this impacts every company applying for or fulfilling a contract with the federal government that uses AI. Failure to comply in their advertising, communications, or business materials could be asserted as grounds for terminating the contract. Sure, they could win in litigation but how many companies literally want to make a federal case out of it vs complying for the sake of not rocking the boat?
I wanted to give the propensity of gathering sycophants to you, as that is key to him skirting the law, but I don't think he can even be given that attribute. Being a useful idiot to the real powers may augment reach and impact, but only so long as that power values what the useful idiot makes possible, be it through policy, idiocy, or anywhere in between.
The money finds him useful, and that manifests as plot armor essentially as the puppeteers exert their will on society.
I want to touch on the for decades thing too, but I think I'm at my run-on sentence limit. Hard agree, though. John Trump had his hands up the right asses to make that a reality. It's never been Don. He's a child king.
- The AI companies came to the White House to ask for legal protections and concessions, expecting a fight
- The Trump administration rolled over completely and wholeheartedly, and the companies were surprised how easily he did it and what (to them) sane positions he took
- Trump's earnest enthusiasm for AI looks really bad by association
- AI insiders are now seeding him with increasingly insane ideas in order to create distance from the "sane" positions the industry is taking
I recall reading that totalitarian states did this kind of thing - they forced people to say lies and absurd things, as a way of demonstrating power over them (and also as a way of destroying their ability to tell true from false and right from wrong).
Well, this isn't a dictatorship, and I ain't playing along. I'll call it what I choose, not what I'm told.
If that makes me his enemy, well, that's his choice.
And:
> the highly accepted new and more accurate term, 'Super Intelligence,'
Highly accepted? Let's, um, just call that "not yet proven". More accurate? Let's just say that's "disputable". New? Yeah, I'll give him that one.
Look, Mr. Trump. You're my president. You're not my king, my dictator, or my technical dictionary. You're an office-holder whose legitimate powers are circumscribed by the Constitution, and ordering me not to use certain terms isn't in there. (In fact, rather the opposite. See Amendment 1.)
Literally all companies selling AI products do, including those the CEOs of which signed under that paper.
But OpenAI is the worst enemy because it's in their name. I would liken them to Iran or Cuba.
Very 1984. I think us residents of Oceania should embrace such goodthink.
Well, this North Korea stuff is at least somewhat entertaining. Which will be the first tech company to fully rebrand?
>Musk says he will rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI
October 4, 2026
?
Feel like he missed the chance to brand it American Intelligence but I'm not exactly sure the neurons have been firing off lately.
American intelligence is for some a synonym for stupidity.
The enemy of the people claims that not using his preferred naming for things makes you the enemy.
I feel his aides are trying to distract him with nonsense like this to stop him from saying something so stupid it will sink the Republicans even further in the polls.
What an odd thing to say.
There must be so much money for him in this change.
.si domains and also it's a flex to provide pro-MAGA propagandists with a very low-cost rallying point.
It’s the TLD of an EU country.
More money for them.
I know that. I was referring to pre-registration of numerous .si domains in advance of his original announcement.
My point is he made AI companies dependent on an EU domain if they want the new cool TLD.
Pumping those .si domains
It is a way to shake down the AI bubble for more money.
He hasn't had any good nicknames or things like this stick in a while, this is his frustration coming out
Even for him, this is quite weird behaviour.

Florida absolutely bursting with excitement.

I’ve been saying that for years…
I say "AI", and so does my wife
So does literally everyone.
and the artificial intelligence bills happening everywhere, it's often right in the title.

He seems to be very good at getting away with things. It's unnatural how many legal contests he faces no actual consequences for, and for decades!

My tinfoil hat theory:
- The AI companies came to the White House to ask for legal protections and concessions, expecting a fight
- The Trump administration rolled over completely and wholeheartedly, and the companies were surprised how easily he did it and what (to them) sane positions he took
- Trump's earnest enthusiasm for AI looks really bad by association

yeah, sooner later everybody is "the enemy".
He makes his people lie or do stupid and demeaning things as a way of testing their loyalty to him.
I recall reading that totalitarian states did this kind of thing - they forced people to say lies and absurd things, as a way of demonstrating power over them (and also as a way of destroying their ability to tell true from false and right from wrong).

No need for this, the Trump administration has been the enemy all along
Artificial intelligence is Superintelligence.
Freedom is slavery.
And the self proclaimed free speech absolutist can’t brownnose fast enough.
K2 Horizon 0.9B should be renamed Trump Intelligence.
"Artificial intelligence". There, I said it.
If that makes me his enemy, well, that's his choice.
And:
