When you look that up in Satans Corporate Dictionary, the phrase "policing themselves" means "fleecing the public while erecting barriers to entry" aka classic rent seeking behavior.
It's the policing (banning) of competitors, like open weights, that we need to watch out for. They are trying to pull the ladder up behind themselves by spreading FUD.
AI doesn't need regulations, but the owners of AI do.
